Explore your creative side with our first series of classes designed to help you express yourself and grow creatively! Experienced instructor and accomplished artist Jenn Wiggs will instruct you on core principles of painting using acrylic and gouache, chosen for their versatility and accessible qualities. Beginners are welcome and encouraged!

In this eight-week beginner course, students aged 55 and older will learn the fundamentals of working with acrylic and gouache paint, water-based media that provide a versatile, economical and non-toxic contemporary alternative to traditional oil painting. With a focus on working from observation, technical demonstrations, focused painting projects and hands-on instruction, you'll become familiar with the materials and techniques of painting and develop skills that will enable you to progress to the creation of more advanced work and pursue a creative vision.

Paints and supplies provided. This program is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through a grant from the Missouri State Library. Orr Street Studios has generously donated the use of their space for this program.

Adults, age 55 and older. Classes happen in Columbia each Tuesday, October 15-December 10 (except Nov. 5). Please register and plan to attend the whole eight-week series.
