The Discovery, Life, and Death of a Dinosaur Called "Shady"

Westminster College, FultonThis presentation will describe the discovery, as well as the life and death history of a dinosaur called "Shady." The talk will feature the laborious task of how the Triceratops was excavated, as well as the clues that are telling us the story of "Shady." Presented by Dr. David Schmidt, the lead paleontologist who discovered "Shady" in the Badlands of South Dakota.
Hear about the discovery of “Shady,” a 66-million-year-old Triceratops found in the Badlands of South Dakota. A rancher’s chance discovery in 2019 led to a multi-year excavation revealing one of the most complete Triceratops fossils ever found. Presented by David Schmidt with the Missouri Dinosaur and Paleontology Center.A part of our Summer Reading program, "Unearth a Story."™
