Join the Missouri State Museum to learn about some of Missouri’s most significant trailblazers in this series of virtual programs. This month, we highlight Rose O’Neill, an American illustrator and creator of the Kewpie, the most widely known cartoon character in the U.S. until Mickey Mouse. Adults, teens and school-aged kids. What is a trailblazer, you might ask? A trailblazer is someone who has impacted our culture through major events, leadership, innovation and more! Today's program will highlight Rose O’Neill.

Rose O’Neill was a self-trained artist who periodically lived in the Missouri Ozarks. She built a successful career as a magazine and book illustrator and created the Kewpie, the most widely known cartoon character in the U.S. until Mickey Mouse came along.
