Please join the library and the Missouri State Museum to learn about some of Missouri’s most significant trailblazers in this series of programs. What is a trailblazer, you might ask? A trailblazer is someone who has impacted our culture through major events, leadership, innovation and more! Today's program will highlight the political careers of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark.
Generally, school children worldwide learn about the Corps of Discovery and the epic expedition of Lewis and Clark over 8,000 miles through a largely unsettled and unmapped western continent. But what were the character traits that led to these men being chosen for this journey? How did they fare upon their return? Eventually each of them became a Missouri governor, but were they successful? What were their accomplishments?
Join us for a deep dive into the leadership skills, political appointments, successes and failures, and even the conspiracy theories about these famous outdoorsmen and extraordinary explorers!
This program is presented by Clinton Flowers, interpretive education aide at the Missouri State Museum. Flowers has a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Missouri and comes from a career in research and managing the performance of workforce training programs for the State of Missouri. He is an avid researcher and reader of Missouri’s role in American history.
Adults, teens and school-aged kids. Please register to receive a Zoom link.
