An Introductory Workshop

In this hands-on workshop, learn the basics of digital photography, creative lighting, when to use your phone's camera versus an interchangeable lens camera, working with models and more. Led by photographer Jonathan Asher and presented in partnership with and on location at Vidwest Studios. Adults and teens ages 15 and older. Please register.

Learn the basics of studio photography in this workshop, which will be approximately one-third traditional instruction and two-thirds demonstration and participation. Key topics will include:

  • Basics of digital photography 
  • Off-camera flash and light modifiers
  • Strobe vs continuous light: which to choose and why 
  • Your phone’s camera vs an interchangeable lens camera: knowing when one outperforms the other 
  • Creative lighting for products and people
  • Working with models… and everyone else 

This will be a hands-on workshop, so bring your camera. (A limited number of cameras will be available for participants who don’t have their own.) This course will be taught by Jonathan Asher, professional photographer and photo studio manager at Vidwest Studios. 

Space is limited, so please register. Note that this session is for adults and teens 15 and older.
