Home chefs looking for the next culinary adventure and new cooks wanting to expand their repertoires will enjoy this virtual cooking series. We explore different culinary topics, sharing recipes, techniques and resources related to food and cooking. You'll see a live recipe demonstration and walk-through by staff, and you'll get tips on easily recreating these dishes on your own. This program will help new and seasoned cooks alike.
For this session, instead of highlighting a specific recipe, we'll be highlighting a core home kitchen skill: cutting up whole chickens! We know lots of chicken-lovers who find themselves buying pieces instead of a whole bird due to the perceived difficulty of breaking down a whole bird into pieces for frying, braising, roasting, etc. Well, worry no longer! We will take you step-by-step through two different ways to butcher a chicken. You'll learn the traditional method for pieces that you’d find in a fried chicken, and how to remove the spine and flatten the chicken for easier, quicker roasting. We hope you’ll tune in to join us for this meaty installment of "Cooking by the Book"!
Adults and teens. Register to get a Zoom link. We'll also record the program for later viewing on our YouTube channel.
