In 2023, the library is partnering with the Missouri State Museum to focus on the history of Missourians at work. This month, join museum educator Angela Wells to explore the history of light and candle-making.
Today, it is easy to take for granted the easy access to light. For much of the world, it's available whenever and wherever with the flick of a switch. However, before the invention of electricity, candles were a vital source for light. For much of human history, they were the only way to illuminate an indoor space, and therefore the role of the candle-maker was essential to society. Presenter Angela Wells will also demonstrate the craft of making dip candles and teach you how to roll your own tapered candle to take home.
Adults, teens & school-aged kids. Please register.
