Allen Eskens is the bestselling author of "Saving Emma," "Forsaken Country," "Nothing More Dangerous" and six other novels. His first book "The Life We Bury," was a finalist for an Edgar Award from the Mystery Writers of America and won the Rosebud award from Left Coast Crime. He has also been the recipient of a Barry Award, a Minnesota Book Award and the Silver Falchion Award from Killer Nashville. His books have been translated into 26 languages.

Eskens has a journalism degree from the University of Minnesota and a law degree from Hamline University. After law school, he studied creative writing in the M.F.A. program at Minnesota State University-Mankato, as well as at the Loft Literary Center and the Iowa Summer Writer’s Festival. He grew up not far from here in the hills of central Missouri. He now lives with his wife, Joely, in greater Minnesota where he recently retired after practicing criminal law for 25 years.
