With the passing of every military veteran, another voice of those who preserved our freedom is silenced. The Mid America Veterans Museum - Veterans History Project (MAVM - VHP) exists to ensure that the stories of these honorable men and women are preserved, enabling us to hear their stories in their own voices and while they are able to tell them. Our history books record the stories of battles, military leaders and various campaigns. MAVM - VHP records the contributions of the rank and file soldier, sailor, marine, airman and coastguardsman — the vast scope of our nation’s history told in the individual voices of those who served.
The MAVM - VHP is part of the Veterans History Project, which was created by the United States Library of Congress in 2000. Beginning as the Missouri Veterans History Project in 2011, a board of directors oversees and manages the MAVM - VHP organization as a not-for-profit created to interview and document the stories of our Missouri veterans. The recordings are provided to the veterans free of charge and archived at the State Historical Society of Missouri as well as the Library of Congress.
