Humans of St. Louis (HOSTL) is a non-profit organization that shares photographic portraiture and first-person stories from people in and around St. Louis. Since its inception in 2014, HOSTL has told over 3,000 photo stories from the streets of St. Louis and throughout Missouri. Co-founder and lead storyteller Lindy Drew joins us virtually tonight to explain the process of finding, crafting and sharing people’s stories.
HOSTL's mission is to tell stories through organic interviews and portrait photography to highlight local needs, issues and experiences from people in the region and to share these photo stories with a broader audience to promote social good, civic pride and community engagement. HOSTL 's platform lets people see, hear and get to know each other; shines a spotlight on the humanity we all have within us; and tries to overcome stereotypes, assumptions and preconceptions.
