As a part of this year's One Read program, join William Woods Professor Emeritus of Equestrian Studies, Gayle Lampe, for a free showing of the film “Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken,” directed by Steve Miner. This film portrays the life of Sonora Webster Carver, one of the first female horse divers, much like the character Two Feathers in this year's One Read book, "When Two Feathers Fell From the Sky." In the movie, young Sonora, a runaway orphan, subsists in a menial job mucking stables in Doc Carver's traveling stunt show. Her great wish is to become a death-defying ''diving girl,'' but Doc refuses her pleas. Undaunted, Sonora's gutsy resolve finally convinces him to give her a break. On the brink of stardom, however, a cruel twist of fate threatens to destroy her dream.
Adults, teens & school-aged kids. (1991, rated G, 88 minutes.) Please register to reserve your seats.
