Celebrate Earth Day 2025 by starting your own home composting system! Did you know that nearly 40% of what goes into Columbia's landfill can be composted? When organic waste is landfilled, it produces methane, a harmful greenhouse gas. Join instructor and experienced backyard composter Debbie Lacy-Anderson as she guides you through setting up your composting system and turning kitchen scraps and yard waste into nutrient-rich compost. Composting is a fun and rewarding way to reduce waste and make a positive impact on the environment. Hosted by the City of Columbia Volunteer Programs.

Adults and teens. Registration recommended, but walk-ins welcome.
