Get to know the homes, hands and hearts of early Missouri families with a short presentation and drop-in activity stations provided by storyteller and educator Sarah Poff in partnership with the Columbian Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR). Explore daily life through crafts, tools and traditions passed down from colonial ancestors. Discover how families lived, worked and built communities — and how those traditions still shape our lives today.
Hands-on activities include:
- Step into the past and dress like a colonial child. Slip into the styles of early America and see how it feels to walk in their shoes for a moment.
- Prepare a simple meal in our kitchen play space (no real food provided) using pewter dishes, just like they did in colonial times. Step in, serve it up and see how it feels to dine the early American way.
