One Read Panel Discussion

Former KFRU host David Lile moderates a lively discussion with local experts on themes from this year's One Read selection. Panelists will include Monica Korba, RN and end-of-life doula; Sarah Parris, writer and Columbia College instructor of English; Dr. Allison Roth, assistant professor of biological sciences at MU; and Dr. Dee Brock, mental health counselor. Adults.

Join us for this annual favorite event as former KFRU radio host David Lile moderates a discussion of "Remarkably Bright Creatures" with local experts, each sharing their individual experiences and expertise related to the One Read selection.

• Dr. Dee Brock, a mental health counselor with a doctorate in community counseling with an emphasis in trauma, will talk about the characters' trauma, grief and coping.
• Monica Korba, RN and end-of-life doula with Serenity Passage, will discuss her experience with end-of-life planning.
• Sarah Parris, writer and English instructor for Columbia College, will discuss the novel's structure and style and address the use of animals in literature.
• Dr. Allison Roth, assistant professor of biological sciences at MU, will talk about the effect of an animal's environment on its behavior, and how her research affected her experience of reading this year's One Read.
